I had one for a couple years. Bought it for my grandson and myself, then my grandson grew. It was a fast boat for it’s length but didn’t turn. I didn’t paddle it solo but I would expect to to be close to the prism. Tandem it is definitely a smaller person canoe.

I have a 90# poodle that I paddle with. The first trip to the BWCA I used my Wennoah Encounter. It was ok but twitchy with the dog in it. The second trip I paddled my Mad River Explorer with the dog. The Explorer was much better and the speed wasn’t bad.
A boat close to it would be a better choose. Something that is symmetrical so you can sit in the bow seat and paddle it backwards.

I am just wondering if anyone has any experience paddling the Wenonah escapade?

I know it’s not an ideal boat for either tandem or solo but with that bit of extra tumblehome it sure looks better than the Solo Plus to paddle solo, right?

Thanks in advance for your replies.

Best!

Thanks for the info RLP!

That's what I was worried about. I'd still like to be able to get a 2/3 day tandem trip out of her when needed but I'm usually paddling with another middle aged and middle sized fella and was worried about the size.

I've had a Canak which is essentially a decked Prism and liked it quite a bit. The hope with the Escapade was that I could Solo with my dog and still get in a short trip with a buddy every once in a while.

Perhaps it's just better to go with the Polaris...

Appreciate the feedback.
