Mad_Angler	07/08/2020 12:10PM   I have a Katadyn basecamp. It failed in the BW. This has been discussed numerous times on this board. The best solution is to cut the filter in half, install a Sawyer mini in the tubing, and just use the unit as a dirty water bag. This has been our system for years and it works great. I also have a Katadyn hiker. I recently had the same problem with this filter. I don't want to buy another $50 filter cartridge. But I do like the ability to quickly pump water when needed in addition to the convenience of gravity filtering at camp. Has anyone done a similar modification to the hiker filter element and tubing?
Mad_Angler	07/08/2020 12:44PM   I just tried it with the parts from my basecamp. It worked great. Now I can use the same Sawyer cartridge for pumping and gravity...
