Back in 2011 I purchased the Alps Mountaineering Neptune 4 person tent. It has worked great over the years, never had a problem. I have stayed dry in some pretty horrendous downpours. At 10lbs, it is a bit heavy, but for the money it has been a great tent.

Alps makes a decent product. Sturdy and reliable, never light.

Northwoodsman, glad I went ahead and purchased it.

Good to know they have good customer service.

Thanks!

Scout64 thanks for attesting to the brands durability and protection in nasty weather.

Does anyone on the board have one of these tents?

Looking to add a 2nd tent for our family of four and the price is right with my cabela's points. Just curious if you would recommend it, if you already have one of these or have camped in one.

Was thinking this would be great if just myself and my 2 children went. Or would work great with other 3 man tent for a 4 or 5 person trip.

Thanks!

I don't have that particular tent, but do have a 4 person Alps Lynx. It's not the lightest, but also not the heaviest. One of the aluminum poles snapped after about 3 years. Called Alps hoping to buy a replacement, they just sent me a new one, no questions asked.
