It will work fine as long as you are ahead of the foam core. Since you will be in front, it is unlikely there will be water on the floor. The baggy method that goetzc mentions works pretty good. You MUST have water under transducer if it is not embedded in silicone or other resin, and there cannot be ANY air or bubbles between transducer and the water under the boat.

Hi all - I apologize if this has been posted somewhere but I am wondering if anyone has personally tried to shoot thru the hull of a Northstar Northwind kevlar canoe? The canoe does have a foam core, but there is room in front of the front seat (where i will primarily be sitting) to put the transducer where the foam is not present. We are renting the canoe and have a limit on gear weight so I would prefer to shoot thru vs bringing in an arm mount and clamp. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Thank you saltdog! that is what i was hoping to hear! Do you have any advice on using water vs ultrasound gel vs anything else under the transducer? It is a rental canoe so I do not want to leave any sign or residue behind. Thanks again!

I just let it sit on the bottom of the canoe with a little water. There always seems to be a little water on the bottom of my canoe. Seems to work just fine. As Saltydog said put it far enough back under the seat so you aren’t over the foam core.
