I am lusting after ordering a lighter weight solo canoe, but am trying to resist...for now. |

And of course, you’re probably going to make my decision even harder with another hammock brand that wasn’t on my final list.. |

Lawnchair107: "Anyone excited about a new piece of gear heading into 2021?" I’m getting a Superior Gear hammock any day and just ordered a pair of NRS Boundary Boots. I’m excited to see how tree hanging compares to tenting. |

Also hoping to upgrade my tackle box. Right now I've got a small basic Plano organizer, and it is just a little too small, and I hate how hooks sneak under the dividers all the time. Sure, I could use some silicone or something to fix the hook sneaking since I don't move the dividers, but it's still too small and cramped, so one of these days I'll work on finding something that's more appropriate. Oh, I guess the actual big one this year was finally getting a Somewear satellite messenger. Safety items aren't generally very "exciting," but I'm happy to finally have it in case I ever need it. Other than those, I think the only other thing is a "pocket bellows" that I made out of high-temp silicone tubing and titanium tubing. About 24" long, 3/8" inner diameter with an inch or two of 3/8"titanium tubing at the ends so that I don't my friends will stop yelling at me for putting my face next to the fire when it needs a little helping blow. Because of the amount of silicone and titanium tubing I had on hand, I could actually make three, so I guess my friends are getting a gift when we meet-up for our trip next month. |

spud: "I was convinced that I needed a CF paddle that I'm looking forward to putting through the paces. also a EE quilt for my Hammock.. was more than I wanted to add this year, but both were from small businesses that I'm sure could use the support.." I purchased a custom enigma from them a couple years ago to use on the ground. It’s been a rock solid TQ. |

Lawnchair107: "Pilgrimpaddler: "Lawnchair107: "Anyone excited about a new piece of gear heading into 2021?" I received the Superior Gear hammock today and hope to set it up in the next few days. I have a May 22 trip coming up so I should have an opinion on it by the end of May. I like that it’s a local product and also that Shug seemed to like it. I’ve already got an EE Revelation to use as a top quilt, so hopefully I’ll be fully dialed in. |

ODoyle: "Warbonnet Ridge Runner and of course some of what goes along with it. Some bridge buttons, dutch tree straps and guy line hardware to play with and some extra dyneema to do homemade suspension with. Damn, those two items sit very high on my wish list! I would love to hear feedback! |

But I used part of the sale proceeds to buy a new Warbonnet Mountainfly tarp for my Ridgerunner hammock. Got tired of futzing with the older Cloudburst and door kit. |

And two new packs... In a previous post I had written about replacing my old army surplus pack ("Heike" pack) and failing to find an exact replica, opted for a Kondos Daypack for the new one. I'm having it modified a bit by a local alterations shop to more fit my exact whims. HOWEVER--I now found THE exact replacement to the old army surplus pack and ordered one of those as well--just for fun! Heike--II |

2. 10x10 1.9oz CCS yellow tarp (already have 10x12 multi colored one) 3. Getting iPhone 12 pro max for taking pics and videos. It seems to be waterproof enough for BWCA unless I drop it to bottom of lake. |

I'm going to see if I like it better than carrying my 62S and a SAT phone. |

here's some feedback from someone that has spent a few years in a hammock situation. What ive found is that each time you set up your "hootch" its always slightly different. run a line from tree to tree and put your lightweight tarp up temporarily snugging up the corners. hang your hammock with height to get in. (i'll hang two hammocks one next to the other to put gear in that is off the ground) shelter one side from the direction the weather is coming from. Ive hung Thermo cells for bugs and they do work well. The key here is to have a balanced hammock. having your feet higher that your head didnt work for me. and having your head higher than your feet allows gravity to pull you down. so level is best. There are mosquito net socks that work well. Also thermal liners are available. if you have knees that hurt, a small pillow works well under your knees to prevent over extending your knees while sleeping. Theses are some of the things that ive learned. Placing your setup area on a slight hill also helps with any drainage issues and allows for better clearance under your butt. Two tarps moBetta. The bottom line Have fun! |

Lawnchair107: "brux: "FryBake pan. Did a practice Chicago deep dish pizza in it the other day. Plan on doing another in the BW in about 12 days! The Expedition size. I’ll likely buy another for this summer’s trip of nine. I also have a 10” GSI hard anodized aluminum Dutch oven that I would take, but the FryBake is less than 1/2 the weight! The second one will replace the need for bringing the cast aluminum griddle. Should cut about 5-6 lbs off the cookset and still be great for over the fire cooking. |

I got overzealous and bought the smalller size kit in addition to the Expedition. I use the expedition 30 to 1 compared to the smaller sizes. Now Two expeditions sound awesome. Too bad they didn't make a deeper exp. |
