Agree, just puncture them and smash with a rock or vice. It’s just scrap metal then.

Anybody know where you can recycle isobutane fuel canisters? My trash hauler won’t doesn’t recycle them. I drain them, mark as empty, puncture and crush them down so that people know that the canister is safe. However, my only option through my trash hauler is to send them to the landfill. I’d prefer to recycle them, any options in the Twin Cities?

Punctured and crushed there not hazardous waste anymore, just scrap metal. But check with your county's hazardous waste recycling program for recommendations. They point me to a local metal recycler, who took them. Granted I'm in Winona county so your millage may vary.
