I take my pillow off the bed at home and use it in the BW. Place it in a bag to keep it dry while getting to each camp and you are set. Works for me as I base camp and do not mind the space or weight as it is worth it for me. I spend at least 6 hours per day using it and submit there is nothing I take which gets more time used than good sleeping equipment and a pillow included.

I'm a side sleeper and if I don't have a thick pillow I wake up with neck pain. It's the wide shoulders I guess."

A proper pillow for side sleepers should keep the head aligned in a normal good posture position. With out your head slumping due to nothing much to hold it off the bed, you cannot sleep on your side properly for best posture. By the same token, a pillow too thick can cause problems similar to a too thin or no pillow. This answers the ? of why side sleepers need a proper fitting pillow.

As for me, I double my pillow over and it settles into a good depth for my head from the mattress. This is why I take my pillow off the bed to use on my trips. My head is still on the pillow when I wake up. Small "pillows" can allow the head to slip off during the night and thus cause strained muscles in your neck and head regions.

I sleep on either side, stomach, back...
After 40 years of folding my fleece jacket and calling it good, I tired of its rancid camp smoke smell, especially near the end of a trip.
We went with the Nemo Fillo Elite. It's ultralight at 2.9 oz.
Inflated: 11 x 15 x 3.5 Stuffed: 3 x 4 x 2

I'm considering getting a new pillow. I have a thermarest pillow but it is bit big, and can feel a little flat at times. I love the feel though and if I were a back sleeper it would be great. Does anyone know of a good supportive pillow for a side sleeper? Smaller would be a plus but I'm not too worried about what I have right now.

I sleep mostly on my side and is quite happy with Sea To Summit Aeros (premium). It's easily inflatable to any pressure you like and one side is covered with soft cloth. I use regular Size is 13 x 9 x 4, 2.8 oz, but there are larger options.

I have probably a dozen different lightweight pillows and I found that for me the most comfortable pillow is the Nemo Fillo.
You can inflate to taste and it packs very small. If you decide to get one, stick with either the green or gray, as their microsuede finish is more comfortable that the jersey finish found on the orange and the blue pillows.

I was looking at the Fillo and Fillo Elite. I was curious because one review said the Fillo Elite was a little thin for side sleepers but the Fillo seems to be 1 inch thicker than the elite. Is this the case, or has anyone experienced this with the elite not helping as much for side sleepers?

I actually like it rather under inflated. Not sure why you'd want a fatter pillow just to sleep on your side. Fully inflated bladders on these can be like resting your head on a beach ball.

I side sleep in my Chameleon hammock with my Nemo Fillo about halfway inflated.

I'm a side sleeper as well and have had good luck with this Klymit Luxe pillow inflated to about 3/4 full. To me this one feels the least like a sleeping on a balloon.

I’ve used this on a couple trips. I can’t trip without it anymore.
