Unfortunately, the HIN on your boat does not include a Manufacturer Identification Code (MIC). That would indicate your boat is older than November 1, 1972, when the modern Hull Identification Numbers were standardized.
If there were a 3 letter MIC included in the HIN, it could be looked up: Manufacturers Code List

I have a canoe that someone thought might be a Sawyer, but I can't find a pic similar. I did find a Wenonah that looks similar. It is 18'4" long.

Are you sure it applies to canoes? I just searched for Wenonah, Mad River and Old Town, and nothing came up.

MFP = We-no-nah Canoe Inc. MAD = Confluence Watersports Co (Mad River is one of their brands) XTC = Johnson Outdoors (Old Town is one of their brands)" I guess their search is less than straightforward, or I'm a putz, or both.

Those look to be the flotation running along the sides between the two seats, as there looks to be none in the bow or stearn. I’ve never seen that before.

Here is the HIN 12653 tested it out and it barely floats Def needs bow n Stearns buoyancy. :)

Looks like a chopper-gun boat. I bet that sucker is heavy! Heavy stuff doesn't float, well.

Is a Hull Identification Number visible anywhere on the boat? The manufacturer code in the HIN can be helpful in identification.

Yes it does.

Elwoodandnadine: "Here is the HIN 12653 tested it out and it barely floats Def needs bow n Stearns buoyancy. :) " Of course, adding flotation to the bow and stearn (like most canoes have) will only help your canoe float better when its filled with water. Wont' do a thing for it while your are trying to paddle it.

Actually, additional floatation inside the boat will make it float a little bit lower. While the foam used is lighter than water, it is heavier than air.,
Now, you could add helium balloons. That would make it float higher.
I looked through some Sawyer catalogs in Hanssolo’s album and didn’t see any mention of side floatation.
