Is there an effective way to help make the lid seal of the common blue barrells a little more scent/water tight?

Wondering if anybody makes a 'gasket' or some DIY hacks?

I've added something similar to this rubber seal tubing to improve the seal of a barrel lid that was no longer watertight.
