MossBack: " I appreciate everyone's help, and I do not mean to sound argumentative. Most of the youtube videos I have watched, showcase the features and differences of models, but are not very helpful in the details of putting them to use. That is where I have troubles. I think most of the videos assume a certain amount of basic knowledge, that I may not have. I apologize for my my whining.MB" I tend agree with your assessment on YouTube. There are lots of YouTube videos that do reviews on the features but don’t dive into the workings. Webinars are totally different. The ones on YouTube I linked were past live events that were recorded and saved on YouTube. Most of these when live, you can ask the instructor questions and he will see on his screen your questions and answer them live. Those webinars are just like a classroom but online for you to learn. They go into every single aspect that you will encounter with this unit. Garmin wants you to understand this unit, it is in Garmin and your interests that you do. If you have any questions just ask here, there are plenty of people that have these here or contact me directly, email or phone call. |

Is it more the messaging side and setup? Plenty of our members have and use Inreach, I am sure you will find the assistance you need. I do not use one. But spent over an hour with one at the EAA a few years ago with the unit in hand, also have some detailed use of Gamin GPS's and use them regularly. butthead |

Also take it with you on hikes and trips to practice with. Example is start hiking with it on tracking. Then send a link to someone at home to watch your progress. Send a few messages to them. It’s really a pretty simple unit to work with. No way do you need a $47 training course. If you have an account they will send you links to webinars that will train you for free. Contact Garmin if you can’t find these webinars. You will need to sign up for them, free of charge. They have teaching webinars quite often. You Tube has lots of reviews and training too. But I’ve found the best training is to just use it. |
