I have a Sawyer Canadian 16‘6“ in Kevlar 49 circa 1980. Acquired the boat used several years later. The boat sat outside for 30 years upside down. Cleaned it off. Hull is intact. Gunwales are aluminum. Seats are composite. No wood on the boat. Went to weigh the boat and it weighs in at close to 60 pounds which I found unusual. From searching on the web, the boat should weigh approximately 39 pounds.
Anyone have thoughts as to the discrepancy?
Thx so much!

Is it a foam core layup? 60# would be close to correct for an all kevlar layup without foam. If it is a foam core there is some chance the foam has absorbed water. Looks has if the hull has been subject to fairly severe uv degradation- possible that water has infiltrated the actual lay up.

It’s an all Kevlar a layoff. Thanks so much for your thoughts!
