They have been around for years (the TG line) and are well established. I have used one but do not own one preferring my OMD E1. Olympus does sell reconditioned for $350 and Ebay list some new $315, older version TG's can be found under $100. Olympus also has a line of TG specific accessories including a 6.8X teleconverter.
I'd would not hesitate to recommend one.
I did own a 810 also, shot many photos and videos with it!

Don't get me wrong, I love my 810. But I like the lens in the middle of the body on the TG-6, as opposed to the upper left corner on the 810. I sometimes find a finger drifts over and appears on the video.Also, I wear glasses, but not when I am snorkeling, and have difficulty getting the object in the frame. Yeah, I know they make prescription masks, but I don't want one.

I recently returned from St. Thomas, doing some snorkeling with my ancient Olympus TG-810. I have no complaints about the camera, but I am thinking about an upgrade to the TG-6. I have read reviews and comparisons, but I would like to hear from anyone who has used both cameras. I am not too interested in other brands, I like the 810, but as I said it is old, and I am wondering if the difference between the two is worth spending money on.

What I liked about the 810 was that it fit easily into a shirt pocket. The TG line is larger but still capable of that. The TG also has a much better and faster lens.
