T,

Your GooseFeet Pillow looks like it with be real comfortable when coupled with a inflatable air pillow.

I may have take a serious look at it.

I really like to sleep comfortable at my older age.

I've probably tried every pillow on the market except that one. As long as I have a comfortable pad and pillow I could forgo almost anything else on a trip. I have $$$ of camp pillows in my collection and the one I finally landed on was the Thermarest Compressible, Large. It's the bulkiest but it's either that or bring my full size down pillow.

I actually used a memory foam travel back pillow I found at Sierra for our 5 day trip in July. Worked awesome! Didn’t pack super small but packed plenty small for me. The memory foam squished and packed into my pack pretty well. Weight wasn’t bad but I also pack light to begin with, so it was worth it to me! I have lots of neck issues and had my best BWCA sleep as of yet with this! I can’t do the inflatable pillows without ending up with a terrible headache.

I hear that the products are not that good but because of the My Pillow guy, I might give them a try. Just my opinion.

The whole set up is great, and light but expensive and more expensive than it was when I bought mine :) it’s hard to put a price on sleep though!

Walmart sells a tree pack of small dry sacks, the largest is 3.5 liters. My pillow is the 3.5 liter dry sack stuffed with my poofy jacket. I think the pack of sacks is under $13 and the smallest sack is great for TP and midsize for personal items. I have tried several other pillows with limited or no satisfaction.

After over 30 years of BWCA what has worked out the best for us are the small pillows you get when on a plane. I wash them, make soft cotton covers and stuff them into a small stuff sack. Light and comfortable.

Amen.....packs up to about the size of a Nalgene bottle, nice combination of foam and inflatable comfort. Fits in the pillow pocket of my Big Agnes Bag.

For years I would stuff all my other into my sweater or fleece vest. It's OK....not luxurious. Then I switched to hammocks. The advantage is that you use a MUCH smaller pillow. I got a small hammock pillow from Jared at Simply Light Designs. Nice bit slippery nylon. Made a pillowcase out of a hand towel. It's perfect.

Double-yep. Got one last year and love it. They can have a bit of a chemical smell at first, but I just washed mine with soap and after and aired it out. All better. Great sleep.

Unas10: "In the search for the perfect camping pillow, has anyone tried the MyPillow Roll ‘n’ Go?"

My wife updated our home pillows a while back with some My Pillow products. All hype. They got lumpy after a couple weeks. They found the dog kennel within a month. Would recommend againt a My Pillow based upon that experience.

My camp pillow has been the Arrowhead Equipment Bear Pillow for the past 8-10 years. I am a a hammock camper so, you might find it less comfortable than I do.

Good Luck

This is my go to pillow after trying several. Pillow makes or breaks my night so when you're out in the sticks there aren't a lot of options due to various reasons (weight, size, etc.).

Tried the Nemo Filo for the first time on our trip last week and I am a huge fan. The little bit of memory foam on top of the inflatable was about perfect compromise
of weight and comfort in the backcountry for me. Previously I had used inflatable only pillow and they were fine but I liked the filo much more.

My wife really likes the Thermarest compressible but supplements it with a small bag of clothing underneath for just a little more height.

I use my nylon compressible stuff sack (clothes bag) for a pillow. It's long, tall enough...and can be molded and shaped any way I want it by smashing down one end, turning it over, or compressing it more (or less.) My clothes bag is a constant on every trip (in other words nothing extra to bring), and it fits the bill very well.

I don't know the brand/model off the top of my head, though I use this:

I stuff it with a wool sweater & the top from my long johns (bottoms get used more often & probably are quite a bit dirtier on average). It's 'multipurpose' haha. It works fairly well though the non-soft material side can be a bit slippery if on another slippery surface (e.g. the etherlightXT). If I wasn't travelling during the shoulder seasons, I'd probably stuff it with a bath towel to dry off after a swim.

Team Nemo Fillo here. Probably the best $40 I spent on a camping accessory.

Take the pillow off your bed at home and bag it to keep it dry. Nothing is better than the pillow you use at home or you would not use it long, it seems to me. If base camping, not much excuse not to take it along. If not, the value of your sleeping well may over come any ideas of why not to take it along. That judgement is yours to take and brings into play the other options given above if you decide not to take it along.

+2 for the Thermarest compressible pillow. Of course, now that I've moved to a hammock it's too much pillow for my head, but still good for between or under the knees.

Got that right! Stayed at some friend's place, they had bought the pillows for themself but quickly consigned them to the guest room. I would have consigned them to the dogs bed except I love dogs too much.
I have used an off brand inflatable , an inflatable inflated about 1/2 way with a small throw pillow stuffing mixed in; works but not ideal. I have tried cutting a regular pillow in half which worked great until my sewing gave out. Next experiment is to take stuffing out and put in a dry bag with a shortened pillow case.

I've tried a lot of pillows over the years: filled stuff sack, cocoon, REI down mini, Exped pillow pump, Thermarest, and MyPillow. The Thermarest and MyPillow (travel size) are my two favorites. They have the same feel and the fill is very adjustable. They seem to have little foam blocks or pieces that can be moved for more or less support and height. I like them both. The MyPillow was cheaper, but is smaller. Everybody's different. Use what works best for you.

Some funny posts…the issue with pillows is they are like opinions everyone has one but it may not be what YOU like. I think it is a lot of trial and error.

As an ounce counter I use a Goose Feet Gear pillow in XL with a pocket then put an exped inflatable pillow inside GooseFeetGear down pillow Totally adjustable, is a pretty big pillow, attaches to the pad, comfortable, and very lightweight. I got mine like 10 years ago…looks like the cost has gone up so maybe not a good option for some. I’ll still include it in case someone is interested.

YouTube video of set up Goosefeet pillow video Not my video…just linking.

This version looks like a knockoff and is cheaper. exped mega pillow

I have tried that version of the MyPillow…didn’t personally like it. They used to ship a similar one free with every pillow purchase I bet you can find one online for cheap or free if you look or know a relative that bought a MyPillow in the past. I am sure lots of people people have them stashed away collecting dust…
