As I sit here dismantling and disposing of a pop-up shelter - I think this is my third one- i have an idea. Ground cloth?

I made the mistake of leaving our pop-up shelter out in the yard when we had a thunderstorm last night and I walked out to a collapsed and twisted up piece of crap that I’m taking apart and throwing into the recycling bin. At the same time, I need a ground cloth for my latest tent. I picked up a tarp just this afternoon- a 3mm one which i plan to cut to size (about 6-1/2’ x 7ish’, as the tent floor is 7’ x 7-1/2’).
But now I look at this canopy which would be going in the garbage, and I think it might be a pretty nice ground cloth if I cut it to size and glue the edges down. It’s made to repel water, so it doesn’t seem bad and it wouldn’t be a prohibitive weight difference either.
Should I use the canopy, or the tarp?

I am an outtie, btw.

I’d do what you’re proposing. Repurposing/recycling materials is great.

That’s what I decided to do. Tent floor is 7-1/2’ x 7’, so i cut it to slightly under that after edges folded over. I just glued them down with some Flex Bond glue i had. Might look for a light, tent-sealing type tape for the sides I cut. The other two sides i folded over.
I will use this with the top side down, as that was the side wxposed to rain when it was part of the popup canopy.
