Hi again,
We have decided to retire our Souris River tripping barge so with a trip comming up (if we don't find a replacement canoe soon) we will be taking the Bell solo and this kayak. It's not that heavy (40 ish pounds) so my new question about this boat is does anyone have any tips how to rig up a carry yoak for a kayak? It would have to come in and out quickly at portages.
Thanks,
Catrina

If it were me I would try something that contains a tetraalkylammonium salt. This is the kind of stuff people put on various exterior surfaces to inhibit mold growth. Will also take care of existing mold.

Star Brite sells a product called Mildew Stain Blocker. I've used it on my pontoon.

There is also one called Wet & Forget. I've used it on my deck.

These products don't work immediately but will stop growth of mold and mildew - and ultimately washes it away.

I'd put the stuff on, let it dry and sit for a few days to a week, spray it off, apply again, etc.

The active ingredient will do damage to plants if it gets on them while applying.

Update,
Four places in town said they had the Starbrite but none had it. I ended up ordering it from Walmart.
Will report how it worked.
Thanks,

Hi,

Just got this PacBoat and took it on a long trip over the winter. When we got home events beyond my control prevented it from building it again right away. It was not a problem on the trip because we were taking it out frequently and I thought I had it dry, but when I took it out there was mold on the deck. It is a heavy nylon deck and I will ask the company as well.

I tied washing it with a mild soap; Dr Bonners and that did nothing. I tried a foaming upolstery cleaner. The can is gone, I think it may have been Woolite, and then clear water of course after letting it sit. This helped but I'd say it is still 40% there.

I have considered using a mild bleach solution and someone said then let it sit in the sun for a little while. Scared this will harm the nylon, what do you think?

Other ideas? Sorry I don't seem to be able to post photos. I'll keep trying with that.

Thanks so much for your help.

I will try again now. Last night it was saying "this feature is not available now". I am going to try on the Sauris River Canoe repair post. The pics of this boat are on my hubbys phone.
