If I remember right there are 10 or so lights on an approximately 30 foot string. Much brighter than a single lantern, we could make it as light as any indoor room in there.

ockycamper	11/24/2022 03:28PM   I have 3 of the original lights that work great for a campsite in the BWCA. I also have 4 of the "base" models that go up to 300 watts and will charge a cell phone. We used them for power outages at home.
rdgbwca	11/24/2022 03:32PM   Have you had to use them during a power outage? I think as the battery size increases they get a little heavier. I looked more closely and found that I have an outdoor 2.0 and one of the color ones. I decided to give the candle ones a try and bought a two pack.
ockycamper	11/24/2022 03:36PM   I have 3 of the original lights. We find that if you charge them up during the day in camp, they will run all night I have 5 of the Base lights for home. They are heavier and throw off way too much light for camping.
LilyPond	11/25/2022 05:28PM   I've owned 3 Luci Lights. The first two were defective and the company replaced them. They give off a very nice light and will last much of the night. However, I found them very difficult to recharge---takes a long time, and what if you don't have sun? I decided that battery lanterns are more reliable for a multi-day trip.

I wish both companies would list the weight and battery capacity of their lanterns." I was curious about The Goal Zero Crush, looked it up on REI, REI lists weight and battery capacity in mHa. Also lists same info for Luci Lights. The Crush is on sale today Goal Zero Crush $15.89 down from $19.95. Nice stocking stuffers.

I had this idea that I would use them in the tent, possibly to play cards but I have yet to play cards in the tent in the bwca. They usually just light the tent for a few minutes to an hour before going to bed for the night. I don't think I would bring them for a June trip again because it gets dark so late. I always take them car camping.

ockycamper	11/27/2022 04:06PM   Luci Lights do not have batteries. They are solar or USB rechargable. The outdoor "lanterns" are solar charged. The base light and pro series are both solar and USB chargeable. We have used the "outdoor 2.0" style light for years. Leaving it out during the day will give enough of a charge keep it lit for the entire night. We have 3 in my camp I bring. I charge them in camp during the day, and hang them from the group tarp when it gets dark, leaving them on until they run out. That way the guys that want to boil water for coffee, etc can do so. Along with the Helinox chairs, they are on our top 5 list.

rdgbwca	11/23/2022 03:09PM   Hi all, I have two Luci Lights that I have had for several years. I noticed that they have come out with several new products. Is there a comparison table somewhere? Do some of the new ones act like battery banks that can be used to charge phones/cameras via USB? Anyone tried their candle? What about the strip lights? Thanks, rdg

" I was interested in the Luci string lights after seeing a youtube review that spoke highly of the haven string lights. These are not in stock though and are not part of solar charging set up. Seems like they would be cool if you use a hammock or have a tarp set up.
butthead	11/28/2022 01:50PM   Cathy thought I was nuts after buying 3 Luci lights. The next power outage changed her mind. Nearing a dozen mixed Luci and Crush lanterns now, as they make good karma with neighbors (as in loaned to) in such circumstances. butthead

butthead	11/29/2022 08:51AM   Online reviews are not know for reliability. I had 6 Luci's when I bought the first Crush, now own 8 Crush's and the failure rates between them are 2 each. Not including the busted Luci that shatter the globe in sub freezing temperatures, still have that one and still works. I do own both and use them together for lots of camping trips. Failure rate is very comparable, the cost essentially the same, both have similar levels of illumination. My reason for using the Crush light is the material sturdiness, better pacing when collapsed, longer battery life (in direct comparison) and the Crushes ability to be charged via mico USB port. The comparison is with the early Luci Lanterns costing $15 and the Crush at $15. With the Luci costing $25 at the lowest and the Crush between $16 and $20 currently. Why do I have so many? I live in an apartment complex and they are handy in power outages, and will be loaned to neighbors when needed. butthead PS: Just read thru the 36 lowest Crush reviews, 1 major point, near all involve failure to turn on stay on. These folks did not read the directions. The Crush is shipped in demo mode, the on button needs to be held down for 10+ seconds untill the light is on. Can you spell user error? bh
