Thanks for bringing this sad news to our attention. There is a lot of competition in the outdoor recreation market, and Johnson Outdoors (not Controls) has to adjust accordingly.
I've only owned one Eureka tent, a Spitfire 1. Although I purchased it for a solo BWCA trip, it is the only tent that I use now. It has very good head height (40 inches) for a solo tent.

Sad to see such an iconic name gone, but honestly their tents haven't interested me much in many years. They just didn't compare all that favorably to Marmot, Big Agnes, REI, etc. Though there have been some exceptions, they seemed to be living off brand recognition.
The NoBugZone is a great idea and I bought one, but there's room for improvement there too.

I saw a October 16, 2023 announcement by Johnson Controls that it is exiting the tent business and focusing on its JETBOIL franchise.
Johnson Controls Exiting its EUREKA TENT business
Then I just saw a November 6, 2023 atricle written by KEVIN CALLAN in EXPLORE Magazine titled " THE HAPPY CAMPER: GOODBYE EUREKA."
THE HAPPY CAMPER - GOODBYE EUREKA
Sad to hear the news that Eureka tents will no longer be manufacured. My 1st tent that I took into Quetico in 1979 was a 4 man Eureka Expedition tent. It was well made and served me well into the mis 90's. My brother used a Eureka TIMBERLINE for many years. Hate to see EUREKA go.
Many bwca.com members use the best selling Eureka BUG SHELTER ... I guess those looking at a BUG SHELTER purchase better pulll the trigger while it is still in stock.

We bought a Timberline 2 back in 1985 when we were young. Now we're old and we just gave it away (in remarkably good condition!) So many places we camped in it, Bolivia, Portugal, Quetico, BWCA. Thanks for the memories, Eureka!

Lots of good memories in Eureka tents. Mostly the 2-person Timberline and then the original Alpine meadows which was a timberline with a hoop pole halfway down the tent to hold the walls out. We loved that tent but they didn’t make it for long. They started using that name for a different design. I will miss their existence even if it has been a while since they were the right choice for my needs. But I guess that makes their decision reasonable.

So many choices these days when it comes to tents. I used to have an old Wind River model years ago, that held up fine until the rainfly wore out after many years of use. I purchased a Midori 6 a few years ago when my boys started tripping with me, and it has performed well. Sad to see them go, the name was kind of fun, like you just found a gold nugget or thought of something clever.

Mike, You've found your next career! You can resurrect the eureka brand and make high quality tents! I'll buy one, sign me up :)

I haven't used anything but a Timberline 4 since 1981. That's two tents in 42 years and while the current one could use replacing I still use it. Life goes on. Not sure I'll ever buy another tent, maybe this will get me into a hammock. :-)

Not to derail the thread, but maybe a good place to note that Farm Fleet still has the NoBugZone 11 for $90 and can use a code for an extra $10 off. $80 is a good deal for a nice bug shelter! I believe it may be limited to local pickup however.

The timberline was the gold standard of tents back in the day.
I was a faithful Eureka tent owner. I have the same tent I bout a few decade so I haven’t been in the market for a tent in a long time.

Sad to see them go. Am on my third (and obviously last) timberline. Opted for the outfitter model the last time around. They have served me well.
R.I.P. Eureka tents...

I'm not familiar with your area but it looks like Muskego might be the closest store and seems to have it available. Here's a link "
Thanks for the clarification, I should have remembered Farm & Fleet and Fleet Farm are separate companies.

chessie: "We have used the 4-person Alpine Meadows for years. It's a Timberline, but with a pole that bisects the ridge line, giving the tent more stability/wind resistance; keeps the walls "out". We did a month-long BW trip w/ this tent, two adults and one large dog. We bought the annex that could either attach to the front of tent like an awning or be set up free standing as a tarp. It was a perfect combo. Still like this tent, though now reserved for base camping trips.
FYI, I don't see the Fleet Farm cheap pricing on the No Bug Zone, but Moose Jaw has a sale going on right now, and you can get it for about $112 + tax. "
You have to add the item to the cart to see the clearance price. Hope that helps!

Have been tripping with a Timberline SQ since 2008 and really love it. Bought a Copper Spur for next year so I guess I’m part of the problem!

Sorry to see that Johnson Outdoors has sold off Eureka. Johnson Outdoors is headquartered in my hometown, Racine WI. Although I never worked for a Johnson company, I got the 30% employee discount on a number of their products thru the years by going thru family and friends who did. My first purchase was an Old Town Tripper in 1983. I’ve also had a number of their tents and food barrels/harnesses the company store carried which were produced by Eureka Canada. The barrels are yellow so on several Canadian trips other paddlers or park staff assumed I was Canadian.
Now that Eureka is gone and Old Town doesn’t produce any canoes I am interested in I won’t likely be buying anything else from them.

I really like my Eureka Spitfire. The problem was I borrowed it to a friend who subsequently lost the poles. I had called Eureka just after they discontinued the model and they had one set of poles left which I took. They showed up and may have just been the most ridiculous tent poles I have ever seen. They were grey instead of the original green ones. The elastic was dramatically overstretched and two segments that were supposed to be symmetrical were not so the tent leaned with the pole in it. Fixing that is still on my project list.
It's sad to see a company die. They have had a really good run as a very successful company.

Yep . . . I've got the outfitter model too. Nice to have two doors when there is a big crowd inside.

Two brothers who hated each other, each given half of dad's business. Is the story I was told.
