This thread is what makes the BWCA.com community so marvelous. Someone has a question, and in response somebody jumps up and grabs their tape measure and notepad. :-)

Makes me proud to be a sustaining member of the site.

Anyone have a Northstar (outfitter version w/ riveted seats) NW 17 they can put a tape measure to?

I neglected to take measurements before starting repair work, so hoping someone can help with reference points.

Specifically looking for the distance from the bottom edge of the gunwale to the center of the rivets for the seats. Mine had 16 rivets (4 per side per seat)...

I think 4 measurements are what I need: front and back rivet-to-gunwale measurements for each seat (1:rear rivet/rear seat, 2: front rivet/rear seat, 3: rear rivet/front seat, 4: front/front). Exterior is probably easiest.

Thanks in advance!

Edit for bonus question: The riveted aluminum angle that the seat rests on...it creates a horizontal shelf, & the seat is bolted to this. On my boat the vertical leg of that piece of angle dropped down, not up, which seemed odd. Regardless, need to know if that leg is oriented up or down, as that changes the rivet position/measurements.

Here you go:
Stern seat, Rear rivet, 5-7/16" Front rivet, 5-3/8"
Bow seat, Rear rivet, 4-7/8" Front rivet, 5-1/2"
Seat support angle leg is down in all four locations, probably to hide the rivet protrusions?

You're welcome--glad I could help.

Crazy weather here, too--it stays in the 70s when raining, otherwise mid-80s.
