rick00001967	04/26/2025 12:38PM   the wife found this one on amazon. it was under $13 CAD including freight. looks like a Contigo cup. we have two of the 20oz ones and they work great. this is a 12oz stainless with the silicone sleeve around it for grip. lid is different than the contigo we already have but looks good enough. they had a a bunch of colours but many were not avail at the time of ordering. not a big fan of teal but at least it will be a bit easy to find compared to a black one. will be trying it out on the next two weeks if the ice lets me. lol also added an 11" set of stainless curved locking pliers (forceps) for fishing. i usually bring my long needle nose but they are pretty heavy and get rusty.
alpinebrule	04/27/2025 04:00PM   I have what I think is this mug from REI (years ago), they don't offer it anymore. Bought several for my daughter's group of trippers and seems unchanged. Lite weight and keeps things hot. You could always cut off the handle and just file it smooth. Mug
ghamer	04/26/2025 06:58PM   Rick - I use the exact GSI cup you linked to in your original post. I've had it for 3-4 years now... best cup I've found so far! And I've tried 4 or 5 others previously. It is lightweight, the lid fits tightly and there is even a measurement in ounces and ml on the inside.
Ahahn366	04/20/2025 10:02AM   I have used the gsi cup in the past, it doesn't keep beverages hot for long. I find the kleen kanteen 12 oz mug keeps stuff hot for a good long time. It is the perfect size to mate up with a areo press. I am happy to pay the weight penalty for these benefits.

rick00001967	04/20/2025 09:18AM   hi all i currently use a Conti go 20oz stainless steel cup. i take this along whenever the wife joins me, and i will bring when solo in colder weather. it is actually a great cup and i think was only about $15.00 cad at the time we bought it at walmart. we have two of them. but i am thinking of picking up a smaller one for solo use. we were looking around yesterday and found a 10oz Contigo but i didnt like it. i found a 14oz Manna Boulder Mug that looked decent but it had a handle which i would prefer it didnt have. i also came across a GSI Infinity Backpacker Mug. i will try to insert a link below. it is really light weight due to the body being polypropylene and has a piece of webbing for a handle so it would not get in way when packing. the body also has measurement markings on it which may come in handy. but i am concerned the outer insulation just wont be enough to keep things hot for very long. so if anyone has any experience with these pls let me know. otherwise, i am open to ideas. looking for a 10 to 15oz insulated cup, with a lid, without a solid handle. not that concerned abut the weight. thx rick GSI backpacker mug
nsuo	04/20/2025 09:44PM   I use a 12oz Fellow mug as my daily work mug. I haven't used it on canoe trips because of weight but love it for day trips. The wide version fits an aeropress, has no handle and it insulates very well. The lid is for transport only, but I like that because it's leak proof so I can just throw it in my bag and go. foxfireniner	04/29/2025 09:21AM   I like the fat 20oz yeti cups. I can set it in the bottom of the canoe and it will never tip over. I also use the yeti tumbler with the regular screw lid. Any extra hot water goes in there, if no one needs it, I'll make a fortified coffee for exploring (coffee plus cocoa) and it will never leak when paddling around.
