tg,
we tried staying there the first night, but it was occupied. So we went a little bit south of there and ended up at the Multigroup site. Really nice site. there are a couple campfire rings and they are all secluded from the other campfire right. And it was situated next to a creek waterfall. Great site.

We had quite the rain storm in March and it created ice on all the branches. We were actually declared a Federal disaster area due to power loss. Tettegouche was closed for a while due to debris on the trails. I was just there last weekend and the hiking was difficult. Stepping around fallen branches. I lost the trail at one point because there was so much down. Crews are working on it but the going is slow. I really don't think they'll get it cleaned by summer.
The trail is passable but hiking will be slow and take additional energy. It's a mess. In fact the SHTA was here last weekend and they changed their hikes to known cleared areas, which did not include Tettegouche.

From May 14th to the 18th, some friends and I are hiking part of the SHT. We will be going from Tettegouche to Split Rock.

I have done one segment already, from Crosby/Manitau to Tettegouche. This will be my two friends first time though.

Anything you think I need to know or not miss? Thanks.

A very good section of the trail to hike. Tettegouche is a great park. You should have a great hike. If you plan on camping around Bean & Bear lakes, get there early as the camps tend to fill up. Beaver River has campsites right on the river.

Trip is still on. We leave a week from now. Apparently there has been a lot of blowdown from a late February ice storm, but they are clearing it out.

Well, we made it through just fine. We all had a blast. Rained and snowed on us the first night in. It was great!

Minnesotian-did you stay on Bear Lake? Small site but RIGHT on the water. I remember waking up to swimming ducks practically in my vestibule! If you did stay there you didn't happen to find my cool did you? I lost it there when my whisperlite's pump cracked. Ruined my trip plans.

so that is what happened to all the bent over/snapped off birch trees eh? driving along 61 and 1 I was wondering what the hell happened. i thought straight line winds except there was no uniformity to the direction of the damage.
