There used to be a guy who hiked it every spring in April doing a tree count and making a map for trail crews to use to maximize their efforts. If he still does it, then the Lac La Croix district office should have contact info... try them.
When I would work on the trail I would work anywhere between East Loon Bay and Hustler because the crews that came up from the TC's would be wasting too much time getting in that deep. Not that they never did, it just made it easier for them at times.
You could camp at Devils Cascade and work north, or north from Heritage, north from the north site on Hustler or either direction from Agawato. They probably all need work.

Did the Sioux Hustler April 20th-23rd. I would say conditions were fair. Some dead fall but it wasn't too bad. The NE section looked like a lot of work was done last year I am guessing.

Great trail and very very wet. Glad I wore my hippies!

Hello Everyone!

Our little crew is planning our annual trail maintenance for this May, and we are in search of ANY trail condition information. If you have hiked the Hustler or know someone who has, we would be most appreciative of anything you could pass along.

Maybe you canoed in and did some day hiking on a small stretch. That would be very helpful. Maybe you know someone who did some winter camping? Please provide best location information you can as we want to maximize our efforts.

We are going to canoe in, so we can attack any section of the trail that needs attention.

Thanks a million!!
