So, I finally got the significant other to "potentially" agree to a trip. I was able to get a permit for Hegamn on Sunday the 31th. Sounds perfect, pitch a tent and go see the pictographs. I've never been there. What I'm afraid of is getting there and not finding a site and having to portage over to Erickson. I'm hoping on Sunday people will be pulling out. What you say?

My guess is that you are correct a lot of people will be heading home on Sunday. If it does work out all the sites are taken then you will portage but I wouldn't get too stressed out over it. If you have to portage simply take your time and enjoy your time in the woods. Have a great trip.

The next closet lake is Little Bass-if you don't get a campsite on Hegman. It's a little extra work but doable. Just let your wife know that there might be an extra portage involved. Plus, there's usually no one else on Little Bass, so you'll have the lake to yourselves.
