Definitely the checklist. Gather all the loose items, like poles, net, paddles, PDF, Sunglasses and such into one location. Make sure your sunscreen, medication and bug dope are not empty. If you have items in the fridge or freezer then write yourself a note and put it somewhere you will see it, or just put the open empty cooler with the rest of the gear pile as a reminder. Double or triple check to make sure you have TP.

The last thing I like to do is do a run-though of the trip and the gear I would use. As in, get the canoe loaded and shove off, hat, sunglasses, licenses... Every step of the way you see a situation and the gear needed for it. The checklist usually has that covered, but you can forget little things that way too.

If you have last minute things to do, setting an alarm on your phone with the reason noted is another good option.

Last night at 3am, I remembered that I forgot flour on my list. It would be hard to have beer batter fish without flour.

I have a long ride across the UP and Wisconsin before meeting up in Duluth, so have plenty of time to mentally review the list!

My name is Mark and I am a lister and checker offer. Everything on the list is checked off when placed in the too be packed area. Then everything on the list is checked off when it gets packed. The list is broken down as to which item goes into which pack, and each pack is checked off when it gets put in the truck. My list has been used used and modified over thirty some trips so it would be hard to miss anything. The items on the list that don’t go in the truck the night before are written down and taped to the steering wheel, and wait for it, Correct, checked off the list when packed. Nothing has been left in the freezer or fridge or in a cooler on the kitchen table in 20 years.

Thanks for all the last minute advice. The day went well with a little shopping, cooking, packing and organizing. I've never had everything in the truck the night before leaving. I'll put in the refrigerator items and freezer items in the morning and be off. Just got a call from my partners in Wisconsin... reminded them to bring the brats (which was on their list). Have credit card, Will travel.

Off in the morning!

We're also taking off Saturday. Right now my basement is organized chaos but I've got a list and tomorrow night we'll be getting it all packed into the truck for the 9 or 10 hours up.

I'm like A1t2o in that anything that's not packed the night before I leave, is a note to do in the morning. Plus, after I've packed and checked everything off the list and put it in a pile, I make a list of each pack, bag, cooler, paddle, etc. that I need to pack in the car.

Have a good trip, bobber!

I like your style, Mutz. My name's Chris, and I am also a lister and checker offer.

Well today is it... I meet the crew in Duluth tomorrow and we are off for a week. Today is the last day of packing. What things should I be worried about?

I leave Saturday morning. All my worries leave when the truck backs out the driveway........

We're out Saturday early AM too. Believe we're good to go, but I always carry an anxiety about forgetting something around now. After a scare a few trips back, I'd say "ability to make fire" may be the to-check-on item(s). That, and TP!

That you have everything!!!! Everybody have their list of stuff they are bring. For my wife and me, all of our BWCA stuff goes into one tote when we are done and we take inventory of what we need for the next trip. Also what stuff not to bring next time.
