My daughters and I are going to take a 4-day trip up Little Indian Sioux to Shell Lake and those in the area Sept. 27 - Oct. 1. We've been in the area a few times, but never this late in the fall. Any advice for fishing the area - especially Shell? Thanks!

This is the coldest late September I have seen in a long time. #14 Little Indian Sioux should be really pretty and I've heard lately that in a lot of areas the walleye are biting well. Lots of crawlers being sold lately. Not sure on what they are using there for lures, sorry.

That pretty much matches my experience. Trolling Rapalas only, though I came up empty in the south bay.

No fishing advice per se, but I stayed at campsite 55 on Con Island last fall. Nice site, and you can easily access Heritage lake with a brief paddle and easy portage. Both lakes fished well as I recall, though nothing in particular stands out as far as spots.
