bombinbrian: "sedges: "Agnes to Kawnipi with a return up the Falls Chain(Maligne River) to Saganagons and back west via the Man Chain/Carp is an absolutely gorgeous loop."

We'll be going from Moose up to Agnes, Kawnipi, then back down Kahshahpiwi and make our way back to Falls Lake.

I'm just trying to get as much info as possible as to campsites and portages along the way. I've taken him on a couple of trips already but this by far is the deepest we've gone and the furthest."

Go to the other canoe planning sites.

Robert Beymer who does the Eastern/Western BW books also has a Q book. I've never read it, but I know he does a great job with the entry point descriptions in his BW books.

Most people pick an EP closest to the area of the park they want to see. Then they look at maps and come up with a travel itinerary.

Some people like to read books as well.

Beymer's Quetico book is a good resource. I seem to have misplaced my copy.

You're likely going to get better info here than you will in most books, in my opinion.

Kevin Callan's book "Canoeing Quetico" covers much of that route (he doesn't go as far north as Kawnipi, turning west instead at Keewatin to go through Williams, Payne, Trant, etc., before meeting up with your planned route on Khash).

You could ask in the Quetico forum...might get some advice there. I have done that trip many times now, so if you'd like to email me, I'll fill you in there.

Also, a quick search of the site will bring up some old threads that cover the route, too.

Click on "Books" at the top of the page and you'll find one by Kevin Callan as well as Beymer.

I know that there are books that talk about entry points for the boundary Waters and different trips out of each point. Is there such a book for the Q? My son wants to do my original boy scout trip that I did in the early '80's. We plan on leaving May 20 or so, through Prairie Portage, up through Agnes and Kawnipi, and then back down.

Any info would be great.

Thanks
