I agree, there aren't any obviously ideal spots. But, I'd say the camp sites around Kelly lake are probably your best bet. Theres a deep pool where Kelly washes into Petersen that can also be a productive fishing hole.

Heading to Kelly and Petersen Lakes with my family. Does anyone have advice on good spots for swimming on these lakes if the weather permits? Thank you!

I can't recall any great spots. Probably just have to be careful and go in from a campsite. Though the launch on Baker lake would be alright.

Protect your feet with sandals or similar when swimming relatively shallow BWCA lakes. Likely, hooks and lures lurking in the shallows.

My son and I went to Kelly for his first trip. We stayed at the very North End at Campsite 927. There is a river flow from Jack to Kelly right next to it. Just behind the rapids it spreads out into a place where you can jump off some rocks into about 6-7 ft of water (only about 3-4 feet above the water), if you move up towards jack in the river there are shallows you can walk and play in. From this site it is only 3 3/4 miles to S Temperance for a fishing trip for some good Walleye action. You can also get to Burnt for better fishing which is 2.5 from that site, The portage to Burnt is pretty tough though. Fishing in the flow from Jack to Kelly yielded some good Pike and Smallmouth. There is also the bonus attraction at the end of the Portage from Kelly to Jack. Off the trail to the left, right before you get to the Jack put in there is a small trail leading back into the woods to an abandoned gold mine. Pretty cool to walk in. Take a flash light as at the back there is a water pool where the mine is flooded in. Enjoy. Hope this helps.
