They are there, however at least on my McKenzie map, they are on the wrong island (McKenzie has them on an island just southeast of where they actually are).

I am pretty sure we stayed at the one island site referred to here. There is some evidence that a site was on the other end at some point in time, but is not in play now.

Hello All,

I'm taking my dad to lake one in a few weeks. My maps (Voyager map #4) shows different campsites than the BWCA entry points map on this site. Wondering if anyone knows what the deal is. Voyager shows 2 campsites on the peninsula just before getting into lake 1. But the BWCA map shows no sites there and 2 on the island. Although the south island campsite says "this site doesn't exist". Either way it's an easy paddle in so we will probably check out the whole lake and pick something that is open. If you have been there in the near past any info on what is actually a campsite and what's not would be very helpful! Thank you all,

Tony

Just got back from Lake One recently. The two sites on the island are there—not sure why that “this site doesn’t exist” comment is present in the campsite review section.

There are two new campsites in the northeastern part of the lake that were added in 2014, I think. One by where the "Dangerous Waters" dumps into Lake One. The second is on the north shore in that bay. I think the previous commenter is right that there is an island site on this site's maps that doesn't exist. There is a semi-recent BWJ that covers all the numbered lakes campsites.
