Hey, haven't been here in awhile, but wanted to know if you all have a favorite outfitter in the Ely area.

If renting gear from an outfitter like packs, sleeping bag/pads, etc. I would ask around, not all outfitters use the same gear. Some advertise premium lightweight gear but that isn't always the case. If it's just a canoe or shuttle probably any of them would do.

Hey Pilot... welcome back! Everyone has a favorite outfitter for different reasons, but most outfitters are very professional with a high level of service. You'd be hard pressed to find a bad one. They'll all take great care of you.

I would strongly encourage you to check out the list of outfitters who advertise here at BWCA.com. Just pick one that will service your entry point area and go with them. You won't go wrong.

We have used several and been very happy, used one we were disappointed with, but more of a personality problem. No I will not say who it was, as I know others who have been happy with him. I don’t think a truly bad outfitter would be able to succeed.

Thanks to all that replied. We are coming from Michigan sometime next month or early August. Looking for a nice 3 to 5 day loop with fishing, swimming and cool stuff to see and all the solitude we can find. Not that we need it after the past few months, but hey!

I agree with picking the area you want to see, then looking through the outfitters listed here that support the site you can't go too wrong.

Mostly split between Ely area, Tofte (2), and Gunflint Trail area. Pick your third of the park and that will narrow your options.
