cycle003: "It’s been busy this summer. We went on a Tuesday and only found one open site out of the ten we saw. The downloadable map is good but printing it could be tricky. Sometimes they are available at the landing. The campsite gps coordinates are also available on the dnr site." Thanks for your response, appreciate the info. I emailed the land manager who said it was a very busy June and early July, but that things have been slower the past couple of weeks....hope that holds up for us but there's really no way to tell! |

I was there in June a few years ago with a buddy and we had the best luck in little side bays that are too narrow or too shallow for the guide boats. I've stayed at R-35 and R-32. R-32 is on the island just north of the point on the DNR map. R-32 was awesome, with my only complaint being that the thunderbox is close to camp, but it's also a small island. R-35 was a meh site. Me and the family stayed there and generally it was uneven but we did find a spot to fit an REI Kingdom 8 with garage. There's a thread on the TFF in the "Other Canoe Camping Locations" subforum. |

For those of you who have visited this summer - has it been very busy? Wondering if we need to worry about finding a site if we put in on a Thursday afternoon... Thanks in advance! |
