I see that a huge swath of southern Quetico is closed due to the fires they've got going. Just wondering how the air quality is up in the B-Dub this past week? Is their much smoke? Or are these fires not particularly large? Thanks for any info! We're headed up Tuesday and curious what to expect in this regard.

Well, I see on the INTERACTIVE FIRE MAP all the fires are currently pretty small, to the west end, but only being observed and not supressed. Still be interested to hear if anyone has any observations from this week.

I was up on Crooked this past week, Friday Bay. I had no idea there were any fires near that area. We had rain 2 nights so that may have helped.

Sure is a big slice of the Q to close for a few smaller (I think) fires on one end. Just curious - where did you find this map? I am not having luck finding it online.

I was up near Rainy and Kettle Falls and sky was clear from 6/4 to 6/13. Wind was consistent from the south/ sw so any smoke would be blowing north. Should not have any issues with air quality.

Thought quetico was closed to all overnight camping for both US and Canada?

I got the map from the Quetico Provincial Park Facebook page. They posted it earlier this week. Ya agree, I too was suprised they would close such a large segment of the park for the size of fires being reported. Couldn't find any more info that would provide an explaination. "

Although, the one fire up in the northeastern Q is now burning at 650 acres. So that's grown quite a bit and is getting pretty sizeable.

It was, now it is open to Canadians (well, at least Ontarians). HERE is the Ontario Parks page that list the open and closed Provincial Parks.
