Hatch could be ending. I saw no mayflies on Wood Lake yesterday. Also no walleyes.

Leaving Fall Lake Tuesday, so will miss your trip start. Coulda helped you load at landing and across first portage

Buddy just canceled on me. Gotta have a hernia surgery on July 8. Boo hoo... I get a knee replacement on July 7th.

I'm still going. Gonna be harder, but slow and easy. Probably not gonna stay as long. Hopefully can grab a handicap campsite. Lol.

Several questions...

1. How's the fishing on the Prairie side of Basswood? Lol... that's a no brainer.

2. I've been to many sites I would love to snag. Going to try a few Blutofish has reviewed in Frog bay. Shooting for Lincoln or Washington islands.

3. Gonna use my Yeti with locks.

4. Big question... Can I grab a couple bundles of wood in town, put them in my boat and go into Basswood? I know. I know. I'm gonna use a cane and not gonna scrounge for firewood. I know there might be a ban on by then.

5. I know I'm capable and I gotta go. Been looking forward to this too long.

Thoughts?

Just can't give up an overnight motor Basswood permit without a fight.

How do you think the full moon on the 24th will effect fishing?

My belief is, it would be a good time for some shallow crank baits around the reefs.
Would love to hit up past dark , but probably not the best thing in my situation..
But definitely sitting in boat on shore with lighted slip bobbers.

I read where bobber #3 said the mayflies started on Shagawa bout a week ago.
Last year about this time had an epic day with smallmouth in a shallow bay during the hatch on Basswood

So your only portage is at Prairie Portage? When camped and out fishing, how close do you have to stay to the motor routes? I am eager to hear all about you trip when you are back... planning ahead.
