Just curious- How do we find out if that fire ban has been put in place after we’ve started our trip? I think common sense would tell us but just wondering.We are going on a two week trip and last year there was a fire ban in place before we started.We learned the fire ban was lifted when a ranger visited our site.

If a fire ban is in place when you enter, it will usually be noted on your permit. (sometimes handwritten?). If that notice is not there, you will be permitted to have a fire. If you run across a ranger, they will note the fire ban as they check your permit. Until then, you have no way to officially "know" about a fire ban. I have heard that bans have been lifted from other paddlers, but I don't think I have been notified of the onset of a fire ban from someone (other than a ranger) I have encountered along the way.

My understanding is if you enter when there is no ban, you are not prohibited from having a fire unless and until a ranger notifies you.
