There was a recent report on the Moose R North here if you scroll down some. If I recall it was low but mostly fine. Made some portages longer and a shallow spot here or there (but still I'd find the original post if I was you)

I'm planning a trip starting Sept 26th, and was looking to see what the water levels were for both Little Indian Souix River and Moose River. I'm not sure if the two rivers are generally comparable, or if they vary and one may be lower than the other. I was hoping to hit both if possible, but could modify the route to only do one if needed.

Just got back from short trip into Little Indian Sioux North. It was very passable. More northern 40 rod portage from Upper to Lower Pauness easy. More southern 8 rod portage actually harder as had to pull over beaver dam. Beaver have been very busy this year. The 220 rod portage from Upper Pauness to Shell Lake was interrupted by beaver dam and very wet in middle. Total seemed longer than 220 rods, but that may be my age. Can't say much about fishing as it was very windy and most of the time was spent with paddling and staying in camp. Still a lovely trip, especially as fire ban was just lifted. Have a great trip.

Purely my opinion, but I think LIS (north) is a little slower and wider and deeper in general. Still very small but not quite as small as Moose R North. So if you went in on the same day at both entry points...you might have slightly less issues on LIS north.

Thanks cyclone! I found the other post and that helps for sure. Any idea if Little Indian Souix would be about the same or might potentially be lower and give us some problems?
