Ah yes. I will be sure to transition out of my NYC state of mind before we kick off on our journey!

Hi all,
Our group is narrowing down this year's route options, and as the subject heading reads, looking for thoughts on commute times heading out of EP 16 to Boulder Bay.
Thanks in advance!

I've always figured - 2 hours to Nina Moose, 4 hours to Agnes, 6 hours to Boulder Bay LLC. That's a steady comfortable push pace.

The time depending on many variables. Like weather, personal fitness, canoeing speed, portage speed, load and unload times, and breaks. From my notes, I have found it takes around 7 - 8 hours to travel to Boulder Bay in Lac La Croix, if we double portage in a single tandem canoe.

Thanks all for the responses, very helpful.
The group is pretty able bodied and has 5-15 years of experience in the BWCA. Goal is to be single portaging and moving at a pretty consistent pace. Weather dependent, I am going to say 6-7hrs with an allowance for navigating our way to the campsites.

It took my wife and I about 8 hours at a pretty casual pace, double portaging.

You're dead on with 6-7 hours. Five of us (4 being green horns to boot) went to Boulder/Tiger Bay in 2017. We single portaged with what I'd consider to be too much gear, paddled into the wind across Agnes, stopped a couple times for roughly 15 minute breaks and made it there in about 6 1/2 hours. We stayed on a campsite within 1/2 mile of the Canadian boarder, so we were about as far north into the bays as we could go.
If in a hurry, you can get there around 6 hours. Figure 7-8 if you want to be a little more liesurely about your travels.

Thanks for the reply and insight. We have definitely been guilty of bringing in far too much gear over the years (food, fishing, campsite amenities, etc), but have thankfully learned a few lessons through trial and error!
