What do you want to do or see? Way too many options to list them all without something to narrow it down.

Where are you coming from? Want to fish, see a waterfall, cliffs, not travel real from an entry point?

You don't mention which part of the BW you are interested in visiting.

Off the north shore of Lake Superior:
Sawbill Outfitters are great for anyone. They are at Entry 38 Sawbill Lake
Couple nice first timer trips from there are:
Cherokee Loop. Head north to Cherokee Lake (if you have time a day-trip to the golden sand beaches of Frost Lake are super.). Then head east to Sitka and North and South Temperance Lakes. Then turn south down the Temperance River Valley to Weird, Jack and Kelly. Then head back west through Burnt and Smoke to Sawbill Lake.
Lady Lakes Chain - Entry #37 Kawishiwi Lake. Get a shuttle from Sawbill Outfitters to Kawishiwi Lake Entry. Head north to Polly Lake for your first night. Turn east along the Phoebe River to Hazel Lake, Knight Lake, Phoebe Lake, Grace Lake, Beth Lake, Alton Lake, and back to Sawbill Lake.

Further north up the Gunflint Trail:
Tuscarora Lodge and Outfitters are great. There are 3 entry points right at Tuscarora Lodge, 50 Cross Bay, 51 Missing Link Lake, 52 Brandt Lake. There are any number of loops you can do starting at one and returning through another.
You can also do an end to end: Get a shuttle from Tuscarora Lodge and start @ entry #47 Lizz Lake. Spend your first night on either Horseshoe or Gaskin Lake. There are many moose sightings on these two lakes. Take a trip through Winchell and climb the path to the top of the cliffs. Then head to Ogema (Omega) Lake, Kiskadina Lake, Muskeg Lake, Muskeg Creek, Long Island Lake, Karl Lake, Lower George Lake, Rib Lake, Cross Bay Lake, Cross River and Ham Lake back to the Cross Bay Entry about 1/4 mile from Tuscarora Outfitter.

It is hard to suggest routes without a length of trip you are planning. You can also visit websites for outfitters you are considering using. Most have suggested routes with average length of time to travel them.

You can also see the trip report section of this website for actual trips others have taken out of the entries you might like to try.

Hope you have a great trip.

Looking for advice on entry points/routes/outfitters/best time frame. We have a group of 7 with 5 adults, 2 kids (9 & 12). All experienced campers/paddlers, but first time in the BWCA. Any advice welcome! Thanks!
