Hi folks! My wife and two kids will be leaving EP60 in August, planning to stay on Rose Lake (although I suppose Duncan would be great, too?). We have a Wenonah Champlain but need to rent a solo kevlar canoe from an outfitter, and need to stay somewhere the night before (it'll be a Saturday night, entering Sunday morning).

What's your recommendation? Last year when we entered at Poplar, we stayed with Rockwood Lodge Outfitters, and rented from them. They were wonderful folks and I think we'd like to do something similar for this EP60 trip. I like waking up and walking to the lake without needing any transportation.

Any other advice on EP60, the lakes, the fish, the trails, things to do all appreciated!

Hungry jack outfitters has a nice bunkhouse and you can’t get closer to your EP on the west end of bearskin. Not sure if they rent solos though. Clearwater would be the next closest option. You’d have to walk down the road to the bearskin landing and the paddle the length of bearskin to get to your EP if you stayed there.

+1 HJO. Many good experiences staying/renting there and heading that direction.

If you want to start your trip from an outfitter's dock, Hungry Jack Canoe Outfitters is the only option. And they do rent true solo canoes, according to their website.
