Spoke to an outfitter who will be just shuttling us over there for entry so we don't have to worry about parking. He confirmed that it is not the official entry and while most people are OK with it, its use is not universally approved of. He expects that its use may eventually be reviewed and addressed officially by the USFS and that could end-up going either way.

Did it last year, no issues. Chatted with one of the local landowner (Jerry?) for awhile and he was a really nice guy No idea what the forest service thinks about entering South via Topper - if you're really concerned, give them a call - but if it were me, I would just go for it.
Where are you paddling to/exiting?

Before my South Lake entry, I just want to make sure that it is still acceptable to park and enter South via Topper by Mayhew. I don't want to get into any trouble or ruffle anyone's feathers.

If I recall correctly there is no parking lot, but room for maybe 2-3 cars to park along the side of Mayhew Lk road. Just don't block access to Carlson road, there are cabins back there and it's their only way out. People hiking the BRT will park back there sometimes, so you might want to have a backup plan. If it were me I would see if you could park at Rockwood and get a ride down to the end of Mayhew Lk Rd.

I'm aware, and no worries. We are only entering at South and exiting later at Duncan.
