My son and I are going into the same area the day after you and are planning on Ensign and some day trips. Really looking forward to it, even though they are easier to access I have never been through Splash, Ensign, etc. I usually opt for the border route to Knife.

Have aa great trip! Weather forecast is looking pretty good right now.

Knife was fairly busy last week. A lot of campsites were full but we still found place to camp. Have a good trip.

Heading in at Moose Lake with a group of 5 on 9/28 for 4 nights. Initially had South Arm Knife in mind but now there's been some discussion about taking it easy and setting up at Ensign with day trips to Vera and Ashigan. Wondering how busy Ensign is this time of year, and what the water quality is like right now. Fishing isn't a priority, but we'll certainly wet the lines each day.

Any input is appreciated.

Shouldn't be nearly as busy as the peak summer time. I'd go with whatever you think the group will like the most. After labor day it tends to go down rather quickly sans some super nice weather streak that's well advertised in advance

Both are great options and I’d assume it’s way less busy. I’ve been through Ensign twice now but haven’t camped on it. That being said I’d like to at some point. The portage into Vera is a tougher Portage but not horrible. Awesome views up top I’d say worth seeing at this time of year! Even if you just hike it it would be worthwhile. Take out on Ensign I’m pretty sure is a nice beach type. Vera is really good as well on the other side but not a beach.

Knife is awesome also with a lot to see and do once you Portage into it.
