I'm looking to find a 4-day intermediate route that is away from the crowds with a focus on fishing. Targeting smallmouth and walleye with some shot at pike will be the focus. The group is 4 adults in their mid-20s and in good shape so don't mind we don't mind the extra work for better fishing or a little more remoteness. I've mostly been looking at the following page for routes. The plan was going to be to take one of the 3-day routes slow and fish more. I noticed most of these have gpx routes too. https://www.friends-bwca.org/bwca-canoe-routes/?category=Canoeing&skill-level=Intermediate Any recommendations are appreciated! |

Also out of Kawishiwi, I would consider the Lady Lakes chain (Polly, Hazel, Phoebe, Grace, Beth). Get a shuttle from Sawbill to Kawishiwi and work your way back to Sawbill. Alternately, you could start at Sawbill and go out and back to Grace/Phoebe. On the Gunflint side, I would consider going end to end from LIzz to Cross Bay Lakes (or vice versa). Stops on Horseshoe or Gaskin, Long Island Lake, and then out would give you time for fishing. |
