Our group did this same entry (EP14)/exit (EP16) several years ago. To handle this same issue we brought a mountain bike and one of us rode it back to EP14 after they dropped the truck off at EP16. At EP14, we locked the bike to a tree well out of sight and covered it with a brown tarp. When we took out, we drove back to EP14 and retrieved the bike.

Thanks for the good idea of a bike. It's one that I hadn't thought of. I talked with several outfitters and got quotes ranging from $95 to $160.

With a May 12 entry date you might want to contact someone nearby and make sure the ice is off the lake before you drive up there. I've seen lakes in the Bemidji area completely covered later than that.

Best of luck in your search!
You probably already considered this but if not most Ely outfitters will do this for a decent price. That way you could get the exact time you need as well.

We have done the same thing with stashing a bike and riding it back to the truck. As an added bonus - The ride back has always included some memorable wildlife sightings.

I am looking to get a ride from Entry Point 16 to EP 14 early morning (time is flexible) on May 12th. Is anyone planning on traveling the part of the Echo Trail that day? I will have already dropped my equipment and companion at EP 14. Trying to avoid the 8 mile hike.
