Long story short, I will be in Ely this Friday picking up my new to me canoe and was wondering how long it would take to hike to the pictos on North Hegman? And would it be easy and safe to find them?

It’s a pretty easy walk right now. There is a little snow on the lakes although it might be gone tomorrow. I would bring yak tracks or something. The only real spot to be careful is near the portage between the 2 Hegmans. 2 hours round trip if you’re in decent shape?

Thank you for your response. It was helpful and I was able to go see the pictographs today. I almost always go to the Gunflint sign and because I had to pick up a Canoe today. It gave me a good excuse to be able to see the big grass. I have wanted to see them since I knew they existed so it was a pretty exciting day for me.
