Water levels were quite high. Example: the first 100 feet of the portage at Lower Pauness along Devils Cascade were under 18 inches of water. On Friday and Saturday the portages all had small streams running down them. But by Sunday they were puddles and starting to dry. And there weren't the incredible raging torrents that we all saw video of after last year's rains. We made it back to Lynx, then Loon, and did get turned around. But by impassable ice floes, not water flows. (Ice was going out super-fast on Sunday and I would expect will be fine maybe by today or tomorrow.) So...I would count on there being PLENTY of water. And if you're dry-footing it, well, you might not be. But nothing absolutely crazy/dangerous/unpassable. |
