TuscaroraBorealis: "Drive west on the Echo Trail until the "T" at the stop sign on the Crane Lake Road, turn left/south and follow that all the way into Orr and the junction of Highway 53. Turn left onto 53 and that will take you right into Duluth."
I'll add that it's a much easier drive than going through Ely. The Echo Trail is wider and straighter, and you'll hit 4 lane in Cook.

I was wondering if there is a way to get started toward Duluth from LIS without going back to Ely.
