We have come to call it "the drag" as it is so short we usually carry the canoes across loaded (4 guys). By the way - sand beach on BOTH sides of the drag = main lake side and west bay side. A "make do" camp site there also. Old Hoosier |

Last year, returned with son, 2 granddaughters and a friend for a glassy smooth trip in the same area. May try it again next year. Wonder what the wind will do? |

Second tip is fishing anywhere on Beaverhouse or Quetico are good places to fish. I've had good success catching trout on Beaverhouse and Cirrus Lakes. I've never flown into any lake before so I have no tips on that. |

quote tumblehome: "First tip is that there are not any designated campsites in Quetico. Most of the established campsites are not on the maps. Right, not designated, but shown on the maps as a campsite... |

quote BnD: "You do realize you can drive right up to Beaverhouse Lake park the car and portage 1/2 mile and away you go right?" Of course - I just assumed it was a part of the anniversary - flying in. Much less expensive to drive and park. |

quote BnD: "You do realize you can drive right up to Beaverhouse Lake park the car and portage 1/2 mile and away you go right?" Yes! Originally, our 10 year anniversary was to fly to Orlando, FL and visit the Disney Resort for a week. Then, last year while coming out of the Boundary Waters, I ask my wife would she rather do a fly-in on our 10 year or Disney? (just trying to feel her out) To my surprise, she says she wants to do the fly-in. Now how many wives do we know that would say that over a resort hotel with massages and fine dining? But, we are going to do a fly-in, and fly-out. It's just once in our lives to do this. We just got back from a trip, and now we are getting some new gear toether for this one and Drew at Piragis is helping us with all the permits, etc. That's who we are using for the flights, and permits, etc. |

quote BillConner01: "Sounds devine. (The trip and your spouse!) Maybe for 20th consider a fly in to one of the cabins that the northern outfitters maintain. Or check out Woodland Caribou or Opasquia fly ins to cabins. What Bill said! |

There is a very nice sandy beach - for a sunny day perhaps - at the south shore of Q Lake - just a little south from the portage from BH where there is a short portage across an isthmus. A little sun and beach blanket time. |

Eyedocron: "Wonder what the wind will do?" Yep. :) (Meaning you just nevvvvvvver know on Q Lake.) |

Anyone ever went this way? As you know, you'll make the 24 rod portage into Quetico Lake and find a spot to set up camp. There are designated campsites, and you can choose your own. If you have been there, what are some good areas for camping? And, of course fishing. Also, what were your best lures you used. I eat everything we catch if it is legal. I'm not out for a specific fish, so, your tips are welcome. Thanks! |

And if you are in to exploring, I think there must be a site on the north side of Eden Island (how suitably named island can you get for an anniversay?) kind of well up the side of the hill that forms teh north west corner - north of the bay/inlet that is on the east side. Poke along the shore and I'm sure you will see some signs of a landing. I saw a canoe in the woods and smoke up through the trees about 3/4 of the way up the hill. I've just been there once but from being there and reading, there must be a lot of great sites on this lake. And the one in my report on Beaverhouse was fantastic - if you can't wait to get past the portage. You do know PCD? Worth a review. Or reach out to Stumpy - he knows this area really well. |
