We did that portage a couple years back. Perhaps the Trip report will give you some idea of what you can expect.

I have done that portage a couple of times. We entered through Duncan, down the stair way portage to Rose where there is a great site on the south side, first one east of the portage. Then we headed east through Long Portage on to Rove , Watap, Mountain and took the portage south to Clearwater. On Clearwater, the site just to the west of the portage is pretty good with good landing, several tent sites, great easterly view and trails from the site to explore. - Good hiking in that area with great overlook vistas!

The Long Portage is just a flat hike for the first 400+ rods. The last half in more challenging but not bad. the portage to Clearwater is up and down with about a 30 foot rise and fall.

Didn't this portage get hit pretty hard in the July 2016 wind event?

For our girls trip in 2017 I have been given the task of researching portages and campsites. We are looking at Daniels to Rove for the first part of our journey. I have been looking at the maps on the site and I don't see an indication of a portage from Daniels to Rove. Is there one? Thanks!

yes, there is a portage out the east end of daniels that curves around to the north and hooks up with the "long portage". there is a trail junction where you decide to continue straight west to Rose lake, or take a right onto the portage that takes you to Rove lake.

is this a day trip from Daniels or do you plan to camp? there are no campsites on Rove or Watap so you'd have to continue on to Mountain to camp.

I believe the plan is to head to Clearwater.

I used that portage trail late May 2015. Aside from being long, it wasn't overly difficult. We double-portaged it. The trail was also dry which is different than what I had read / expected for Spring. Once you get to Rove, you are rewarded by great scenery and decent smallie fishing.
