I fished Nels some years ago and I do recall paddling down a creek towards Hegman but it didn't go very far. The creek narrowed and became unnavigable. I suppose you could get out and bushwack the rest of the way.

is there a portage or secret trail that connects these two lakes. hard to believe that there isn't.

Maps make it look like some boggy and wet lowlands. Good luck! Make sure you post a trip report. :-)

creek is definitely not paddleable - even in spring.
if there's a secret portage, I don't think anyone on this board knows about it - or they just didn't tell me when I asked myself a few years back.
