I have used t-shirt iron on transfer paper (from office max) any it works great. Just iron it onto the canoe just prior to glassing . Here's one I put on a paddle 8 years ago and it's still going strong.

A Vinyl sign shop can make just what you want, very reasonable !
I have a shop do my boat numbers for about $12 a set.
Pretty hard to beat that.

I have finished stripping and now I am getting ready to fiberglass a cedar strip canoe. The canoe is a 'never done this before, but look I can do it' affair and I will be giving it to relatives who have summer homes on Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. I want to add the name 'Geneva' to the canoe and am asking for opinions on how to do this. I can imagine decals, painting, or etching prior to or after fiberglassing. Bow, stern, or midship?

Way back when I was making wood paddles we were printing logos and names on a thin paper using a laser printer. The paper was put under the glass. When wetted out with resin the paper was almost clear. Things have changed so much with paper products I have no idea what to suggest. Onion skin paper might work if it is available. Something real thin. You may have to tape it to a heavier piece of paper to run it through a printer.

I suggest trial runs and experiments with epoxy on scrap piece of wood.

Let us know what you experiment with!

Wood burning tool might be nice, too.

I use vinyl lettering and add such things after the fact.
