After you build one ? I highly doubt you will go back to the CC method.

When I started building, several builders from the Minnesota Canoe Association, helped me along.

The Logic of the MM method is tried and true.

Just as strong !

Hey all. Was looking at some strippers (can I say that!?!) and got me thinking. Anyone know the merits of one method over the other? I know there are some passionate about either way...so what’s the reasoning?

I personally have built 2 inner/outer stems (Ted Moore’s method) and never the minnesota method. Certainly not a proponent of either method- but I did mine for 2 reasons.

1. I like the look of the outer stem.
2. Ted Moores said so.

That being said I also like the look of the “MM” style! What are you thoughts?

Inner and outer stems are extra and unnecessary weight and work. I do use an inner stem, but laminate it from cedar so it is light and easy to shape. I put an extra layer of glass over the stem area and coat it a little heavier with resin mixed with silica for hardness.
