Actually I cheat profoundly and I'm not a purist by any means. I pull the PDF files into my cad software and separate out the stations and then plot them off from my Ex-company's full sized plotter. (I'm laid off but we get along great)

I can see with my eye whether or not the hull lines are fairing out properly and honestly I don't feel the need to take the time to "do it the right way" by plotting out the points by hand and connecting the dots along a batten.

It's fun to do and all but if it's in my computer I can crank off another hull form if I seriously fubar things while disk sanding the form down to the line.

Spray mount the form prints to the partical board/plywood and grab a handy sabersaw and have some fun. Good therapy for me.

Holy cow - you're not kidding! Just ordered the Northwest Passage Solo. Looks like if you have the ability to print full size plans their yours for the asking.

Two thumbs up for Northwest Canoe! I built their 38 Special for Chris but I really like the looks of the rocker in this one.

It looks like NW Canoe is giving away some of their plans. The NW Cruiser, the "River Runner" (which I believe is the Prospector) and a couple of solos. Here's a link: NW Canoe Plans

I don't have full-size capability, but I sent them off to Kinko's and will pick them up after lunch. I don;t know how much they will cost, but if it's not too much I may have them do a print-out for every station. Carbon paper transferring kind of blows & takes forever!
I'll post the cost per page once I know what it is.

Woodbender, how did you get the scale correct on the plans? There isn't a reference scale on the plan to check against. I have access to a full size plotter, but don't know how to get the plot scaled correctly.


It is really great of them to offer the plans for free.
