I tried a number of times later to get back to Wildgoose but there was a Hugh beaver dam in the creek and on the other side of the beaver dam was a sand river with absolutely no water. About three years ago in the spring I again tried to get into Wildgoose and surprize- the beavers had damned Your lake at the mouth of the creek and changed the direction of the creek so now it flowed toward Wildgoose. The water was so high that year I got not only into Wildgoose but also into Eyelet without any portaging. The river going onto Orion was really deep but again it is still a long way from Eyelet. If you are going to try I would canoe in the spring. |

Stumpy: "Thanks Ho Ho ! I know you like to explore and yes the exploring and bushwacking etc. is much of the trip. I love lake trout fishing. But many times I will travel many miles to find out what is in a lake. Once I find out I am ready to move on many times. Seeing and learning for the first time is very important to me also. Yes I am slowing down so I do less exploring than in past years. Orion does have trout. |

Some good info there...Also sounds like some nice walleye fishing in those lakes. It's funny though, sometimes the more info I can get on an area, leads me to look elsewhere. I like finding routes that are a mystery, but getting friends to go with, I most times need to guarantee some fishing. . |
